Hello

I'm a journalist in London writing about my recent trip to the Castle of the Assassins.

Do you still have photographs of your grandmother that you might consider publishing?

Would you consider letting me use one? I would of course send you the article to read so you could see if you liked it.

I will soon pitch the article to The Indpendent, circulation approximately 250,000.

Please look at my website if you'd like to see pictures of my trip:

Many thanks

 –   Your Great Great Grandmother - how can this be??
In 1947, when she was 54, she married Stewart Perowne, a diplomat and historian. They separated in 1952 but did not divorce. Mr. Perowne died in 1989. They had no children, but Dame Freya had many godchildren, in many countries.

She had no children therefore no grandchildren therefore no great great grandchildren.

I have just finished reading the fascinating and authoritative biography of this incredible woman. It would be impossible for anyone to be her great great grandchild as she did not have any children and only married after she was in her fifties.I am really keen to read her books. I hope I can find them.

You should have no problem. They are everywhere. Libraries in print and on tape....a wonderful way to experience them. And there are many volumes of all her books on the bookseller site ABE.
Good luck. I love her work

We're putting together a book on Old Qatar and i'd be really interested if anyone has any images pre 1970 of Qatar - I know Freya had many images of the time but I just don't know how to get to them.

 –   quote, from which book?
"This is a great moment, when you see, however distant, the goal of your wandering. The thing which has been living in your imagination suddenly becomes a part of the tangible world. It matters not how many ranges, rivers or parching dusty ways may lie between you; it is yours now for ever.”

 –   I met Dame Freya in Asolo
I was on holiday in the area in 1967 and went on a trip to Asolo with my father & sister and an Italian friend in a fiat500!.(He came from the town)

We were passing through the town when our friend mentioned that she lived there so Dad decided to pay her a visit. He rang on the bell at the gate, which was answered by a maid. We were invited in and spent a couple of hours with her.

It was the height of the Yom Kippur war so my father & Dame Freya had a long conversation on that subject. I was only 7 (and my sister 5 1/2) so we played in the garden!.

Although I was very young I clearly remember the visit and I have a photo of the great lady together with me & my sister-email me if anyone is interested in seeing it.
